What cookies and similar technologies this website uses, why, and how you can control them.
Cookies are small text files that a website can store in your browser. They're used to remember information about your visit, such as your preferences or, in the case of analytics cookies, to help us understand how the site is used.
The first time you visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. That choice is remembered in your browser's local storage — not a cookie — so we're not asking you to accept a cookie just to record that you don't want cookies.
You can change your mind at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of every page.
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and move through this website — which pages are popular, how people arrive here, and where they run into friction. We use this purely to improve the website: fixing confusing pages, speeding up slow ones, and prioritising the content visitors actually want.
Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish visitors between sessions. These cookies are only set once you've actively accepted analytics cookies, and Google Analytics is not loaded at all before that point.
We do not use Google Analytics (or any other tool) for advertising, ad retargeting, or to build profiles of individual visitors for sale to third parties.
On pages where you can book a tour, we embed our booking partner Bokun's own widget directly in your browser. Bokun's widget — and Stripe, which handles payment inside that same widget when you check out — set cookies that are strictly necessary to run the booking calendar, hold your reservation while you complete it, and process payment securely. These load automatically wherever the booking widget appears, regardless of your analytics choice below, because the widget can't function without them.
The only other browser storage used regardless of your choice is the local-storage entry that records your cookie preference itself, so the banner doesn't reappear on every page.
Enquiry forms on this site submit directly to EmailJS, our email-delivery provider, so your message reaches us — this is not a cookie and is covered instead by our Privacy Policy.
Bookings are made through Bokun's embedded widget, described above, rather than a form submitted to our own servers.
Questions about this Cookie Policy can be sent to croatiaboattours@gmail.com.
